Desire

I watch and listen as people go over their reasons for not doing something. Often this something is the thing that would make them feel so much better about themselves and who they are.

Some examples of the thing are:
  • Wanting to be healthier
  • Wanting to have a better job
  • Wanting to spend more time with family
These are just a few of the things that people want. When it comes right down to the actual doing, many people shy away. Even though the thing they want may be theirs for the taking, they still shy away.
“Come to the edge, He said. They said, We are afraid. Come to the edge, He said. They came. He pushed them....and they flew.”
      -Guillaume Apollinaire
Each of us has decisions to make about our health, our knowledge, our wealth, our friends, our beliefs. It’s important that we make good decisions about the things that matter to us and about the things that will make a difference to add to the quality of our lives. Often times we know the answers to the things that we feel will change our lives for the better. At that point we need to pursue the path to make the dreams become reality. We really do have the talent and ability to achieve whatever we want if we only take the proper steps in the right direction.
“Most of our obstacles would melt away if; instead of cowering before them; we should make up our minds to walk boldly through them.”
      -Orison Swett Marden
In my own life I am learning how to bring the benefits of Combat Endurance Training to people around our country and around the world. I believe in the value of this program. I also know that there are many things that I do not know about marketing on the Internet.

I do know that I’ve come a long way in understanding what needs to get done.

Like so many things this learning has required a great amount of patience, trial and error, and willingness to carry on when things do not go right. As with many other things that were hard in the beginning and then became easier with time and effort I had to pick myself up after mistakes, reevaluate, and sometimes change direction. I once again have come to realize that pursuing one’s dream and finding real world results have proven invaluable.
“The experience gathered from books, though often valuable, is but the nature of learning; whereas the experience gained from actual life is of the nature of wisdom.”
      -Samuel Smiles
It makes sense to go after your goals with an energy and a determination to not stop no matter the obstacles that you encounter. People have often asked me about how long they should plan to continue on an exercise program. I believe that sometimes they want to do their very best for 2 or 3 months and feel that they can store up their points, have a get out of jail card, if their health becomes bad and they need to ride into the rescue. How about just planning to do the things that will keep you healthy for a whole lifetime?

Stupid is as stupid does. It’s no wonder that one can find so many unhealthy, unhappy people within arms reach on any given day. Hopefully it will one day sink in for these people that the more we move, the healthier and stronger we work to make ourselves feel, the less we will need to worry about our health as the years move on.

There may be some fear associated with starting anything new. At that point it’s important to ask oneself if the result is worth more than overcoming the fear.
“Do the thing we fear; and the death of fear is certain”
      -Ralph Waldo Emerson
Choose the things that you want that will turn your life into the masterpiece that it might be and then step into the battle with conviction and a commitment to forward movement and progress.
